Benin High Court Orders The Arrest of Deputy Commissioner Of Police, Joshua Ibine

Mr. Joshua Ibine, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of
Criminal Investigation
Department (CID), Benin City has been ordered to be arrested by his boss, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Funsho Adebanjo

A High Court in Benin
City, Edo State handed down the order on Wednesday when it observed that DCP Ibine was said to have allegedly released accused persons on bail
while the motion for
their bail was still
pending before the
court.
Ibine was also alleged to have flouted the order of the court to produce the accused persons in court when the matter came up for hearing yesterday.

There has been series of allegations against some unscrupulous Nigerian police who collect 'money' for bail from suspected criminals and set them free. Though, Nigerian police has been preaching bail is free, everybody knows it is far from the truth.
Bail, according to them, is a way of self 'funding' of daily police expenses, although, already provided for, such money was 'chopped' by ogah.
Most of the ogah who often brag they have paid their dues in the force, are now too potbellied to do real policing but to sit in office like bank managers and record proceeds from loyal officer under the desk.
Most cases, senior officers are directly consulted if the catch is a big one.
In this case, the suspects are community youths. They have sell community land, collect development fees from builders, collect roofing, and fencing fee. They have money. Any elder who interferes is in soup.
The accused persons,
Osas Osawe, Peter
Aruyinmwen,Stephen
Osabuohien, Godwin
Igbinijesu, ogbegie
Michael, Osaigbovo
Ehigiamusoe, Joseph
Igbinijesu and others at
large were alleged to
have conspired to
commit felony to wit:
demolish buildings of the traditional ruler of
Evboewedo (Enogie
Osarenogowu Onaghise)
and other houses through rioting on
November 19, 2012.
