How bomb was discovered in a mosque in Kano

There was pandemonium on Friday at about 2pm as the police discovered 13 explosive devices planted in a mosque in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident occurred when Muslims were preparing to observe their Jumat prayers.

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Majiya, told our correspondent on the phone that if the explosives had went off, it would have led to the death of no fewer than 130 people.

He said the discovery of the bombs followed a tip-off by a boy who noticed strange movements by some persons suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.

Majiya said after conducting a thorough search at the mosque, the police discovered the explosive devices.

He, however, said one of the explosives detonated itself, but killed no one.

End time: how a 'prayer warrior' woman was caught stealing neighbor's child

One Rosemary Chukwu of No. 33, Omo Ologede area in Majidun, Lagos has been alleged to have stole the seven-year-old child of her neighbour, Mrs. Gloria Emeka.

A neighbour  of the kidnapper by name Biola Odunsin, narrated how he, in conjunction with other neighbours, caught Chukwu.

He said, “It was around 6.30am today (Wednesday), when the mother of the child raised the alarm that she could not find her son, Emmanuel.

“We all rallied around her to find out what happened. She informed us that she had sent him to fetch water from the well in the compound. She raised the alarm because her son took too long and when she went to the well, she only saw the empty bucket the boy took there.

“While we were looking for the child, Rosemary (Chukwu) even came out to join in searching for the child as well. She was pitying her mother, showing concern and asking us to check some other parts of the compound.”

According to Punch,  another  neighbours who also took part in the search for the child said that Rosemary Chukwu even asked him to see whether the child was in another compound not far from the house.

Two other neighbours named Yakubu and Vincent told our correspondent that they entered the well where the child was sent to fetch water.

“We entered the well to see if the boy fell inside but we found nothing,” they said.

But while the search for the child was going on, Chukwu was said to have gone inside her apartment and came out with a large luggage.

“She carried the luggage on her head and passed by us as we searched for the child. She said she needed to drop the bag somewhere and that she would come to join the search later,” Odunsin said.

But a suspicious woman, the wife of the landlord of the house, alerted the search party, telling them to search the bag Chukwu had on her head before she was allowed to leave.

When the residents called after her to tell her to bring the bag for a check, she reportedly began to run. But a moment later, she was caught.

“We immediately opened the bag and inside was Emmanuel with a cloth used to gag him. The child would have died because he could not speak again. We tried hard before we could resuscitate him,” Odunsi explained.

However, the infuriated neighbours descended on Chukwu and while they were beating her, she screamed out that they should spare her because she was only a messenger.

“Pastor Ernest sent me! Please don’t kill me, Pastor Ernest sent me o!” she was reported to have told the party of residents.

Then Chukwu took the party to the church of the pastor who she claimed sent her, which turned out to be Pastor Ernest Nwankwo of the Holy Family Happy Family Ministry (House of Mercy), Majidun.

One of the residents who took Chukwu to the church said by the time they got there, the pastor was nowhere to be found. She was later handed over to the police who took her away.

Chukwu is a plump, fair complexioned woman with a motherly face. She is said to have four children – two boys and two girls.

Neighbours said they had not seen her husband, as he was usually away from home even though they are still together.

When our correspondent visited the church on Wednesday, a crowd of residents had besieged the place, barely kept at bay by some sternly looking policemen who were said to have prevented the church from being burnt down earlier by angry residents.

Despite this, some youths had succeeded in entering the church before the police came and seized hundreds of audio CDs of an album recorded by the pastor.

The youths publicly and excitedly sold the CDs on the Ikorodu Road to motorists and passers-by for N50 each.

The policemen rebuffed every attempt to gain access to the empty church, while residents of houses nearby could not provide any information about the whereabouts of the pastor.

Some residents who pleaded anonymity informed Saturday PUNCH that the church was not a conventional one.

“They don’t hold service on Sundays, only on Tuesday and Thursday. The pastor claims to treat mad men,” one of them told our correspondent.

An eyewitness, who entered the church before police intervention, said when they stormed the church earlier, they met a man with his hands and legs shackled in chains.

“I am not a mad man. Please help me! I was taken from around Redeemed Church Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Pastor Ernest kept me here. There were many of us but they usually come to take away,” the man, who gave his name as Onuora Okeke, was reported to have said. The man also revealed to the people that he was from Anambra State and had been locked up in the church since 2012. Our correspondent learnt the man was taken away by the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the Chukwu would soon be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for investigation.

She also confirmed that the pastor of the church has not been found.

Our correspondent attempted to contact the Nwankwo through two phone numbers found on his church’s website but none of them were available as of press time.

Boko Haram: Chibok Girls' parents fight boko haram with snakes.

Two Boko Haram members who were arrested by civilian JTF confirmed thst Boko Haram tertorist are now fleeing the Sambisa forest to local governments areas across Borno State owing to strange developments in the forest, believed to be a spiritual attack.

This hint was given by two members of the Islamic militants arrested on Wednesday at Mairi ward behind University of Maiduguri by members of the Civilian JTF.

According to Kolo Mustapha, one of the insurgents arrested, snakes are now attacking them in the forest.

“Most of us are fleeing because there are too many snakes now in the forest, once they bite, they disappeared and the victims do not last for 24 hours.

“We were told that the people of Chibok local government are the ones turning into snake and attacking us in the forest”, he disclosed.

He said some of their leaders have escaped to Cameroon because they are known to the Nigerian authorities and could be easily identified.

According to him, those of them who lived all their lives in Maiduguri have nowhere to go but to return to the town.

He said they came in Tuesday and were trying to hide in some uncompleted building when some members of the Civilian JTF identified and arrested.

“We are pleading with them to spare our lives, we were forced into the sect, but we know that it is not the right way. I have never killed anyone, but my friend here has killed people”, he said.

Umar Abor, the other sect member arrested said Kolo Mustapha was lying as all of them had participated in all heinous acts by the sect in the past.

“We have fought together since 2010, we have fought in Marte, Bama, Buni Yadima and Gwoza. We were not in Chibok, we have not seen the girls but we heard about it. Our leaders have been talking about it and we have been following all news from the radio.

“We decided to flee when almost all our comrades are leaving the Sambisa because of constant attacks by snakes, which we were told was as a result of the Chibok girls abducted.

“They (our leaders) told us that it was the people of Chibok that are hunting us through diabolical means in the form of snakes. We were in the forest in 2010 and 2011; we left and came back last year but we have never experienced snakes as this year. It is believed that the Chibok people are using “juju” to pursue us because of their children”, he said.

According to him, they had realized their mistakes and had turned a new leaf.

The also promised that if spared, they would help the community in fishing out some of their members.

Ali Musa, leader of the Civilian JTF at Bama road, who arrested the sect members told DailyPost that many of them have been fleeing the Sambisa forest since last two weeks.

“These ones have not attempted to run or do anything stupid, they promised to take us to where they hide their weapons, now we are taking them to our chairman in sector 5, before they will be handed over to security operatives.

“We have arrested dozens since last week while they were trying to come to town”, he added.

Edo state pdp law makers survive gunmen attack

Two lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo State House of Assembly and the suspended deputy speaker, Honourable Festus Ibea, were, on Sunday, attacked by assailants, who reportedly fired gunshots at them.

The two other lawmakers were the minority leader of the assembly, Honourable Emmanuel Okoduwa and Honourable Patrick Iluobe.

It was  gathered that the lawmakers were returning from Ebele, Igueben Local Government Area of the state, where they had attended the investiture by the Anglican Church of the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, during the 16th synod session of the church

One of the lawmakers told the Nigerian Tribune that they were all inside a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) belonging to one of them and were returning to Benin in a convoy when the assailants stopped them at Abudu, headquarters of Orhiomwon Local Government Area of the state, and opened fire on them.

He added that one of the gunmen was, however, killed in an ensuing exchange of fire with the security operatives attached to the deputy speaker, adding that one of the drivers in the convoy was shot and now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

How A Celestial Pastor Deceives Married Women with spiritual Cleansing To Have Sex With Them

One Samson Odeyemi, 38years old, a pastor in Celestial Church in the Igeobazuwa area has been arrested for raping a 40-year-old woman. The act was committed on the pretext of spiritual cleansing to solve a problem she had related to him.

According to  Sunday Sun, the victim (name withheld) said: “I had a problem and needed a solution. When I got to Pastor Odeyemi, I narrated my problem to him and he promised to pray for me. Later he said I have to take a spiritual bath in the river for the problem to be solved. I accepted the advice. The following day, we went to the river. When we got there, he ordered me to remove all my clothes. Initially, I refused to undress, but he insisted that if I bathe with my clothes on, my problem would not be solved. When I undressed, Odeyemi dragged me to the side of the river and raped me. When I got home, I couldn’t sleep; later I felt sick and was convinced that what Pastor Odeyemi did to me was abomination.

“When I couldn’t bear it any longer, I had to inform my husband about the ugly incident. Immediately, we went to the police station in Benin City and reported the case. Pastor Odeyemi was arrested.”

Corroborating what the victim said, Odeyemi told Sunday Sun: “It is true that the victim came to me and she told me about her problem. In the process, the devil used me. I deceived her and took her to the river side and insisted that she must undress for the spiritual bath. Then I raped her; I told her it was through that process that her problem would be solved. I have been using this method to deceive several women and ladies by raping them at the riverside and I would tell them that their prayers had been answered. I want the victims to forgive me.”

Bothered by the felonious acts of these pastors, the Edo State Police Commissioner advised people to be wary of pastors they associate with and seek help from, stressing that many of them are like wolves in sheep’s clothing.

How a pastor, Friday Uwem Raped a 12-Year-old Girl in the Bush.

Friday Uwem, 38-year-old pastor is cooling up in the police cell for raping a 12- year-old girl. The Edo State Police Command confirms

Pastor Friday Uwem eas said to have lured the 12-year-old daughter of his neighbour to a farm in Okokwo village, in November 2013, where she raped the innocent girl, who became pregnant from that single dastardly act. He warned the girl (codenamed Jane) not to say a word about what transpired, threatening that she would drop dead if she revealed his evil deed. Filled with fear of death, the little Jane kept quiet, not knowing that she had become pregnant.

However, the biblical warning, “Thy sin shall find you out,” came through when Jane’s tummy began to protrude, showing the tale-tell signs of pregnancy. Worried by the development, her parents carefully questioned her on May 30, 2014, and learnt that it was Pastor Uwem who committed the atrocity. Promptly, they rushed to the police station in Benin City to report the matter.

Upon hearing the heart-rending story, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo said a team from the State Criminal Investigation Department proceeded immediately to arrest the pastor.

In the course of interrogation, he confessed to the act. In an interview, he told Sunday Sun: “The victim is the daughter of my neighbour, who is my friend. It was in the evening that I lured her with biscuit and money and I took her to the bush and raped her. I had sex with her once. I didn’t use condom. I am responsible for the pregnancy. After raping her, I threatened her not to tell anybody. I told her that she would die if she told anybody. It was when the pregnancy became known that her parents vame to my house and I confessed to them

A fake Pastor claims God instructed him to impregnate church members

Obviously a fake prophet, one Timothy Ngwu, a serial adulterer and fornicator claims God told him to impregnate his church members.  Timothy Ngwu, the General Overseer of Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity, located at Ihe/Owerre, Nsukka in Enugu State has been arrested by Police in Enugu State.

Before his arrest on Friday, the self acclaimed Pastor, who said he was obeying God’s command, has put no less than 20 members of his church in a family way.

DailyPost gathered that Ngwu does not spare married women in his evil act.

The spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, disclosed that “the pastor claims to be obeying prophetic/spiritual injunction to do the will of God, which is to impregnate any one chosen and revealed by the Holy Spirit, irrespective of whether the woman is married or not.

“When the woman is delivered of the baby, the child remains in the ministry with the mother for life”.

Amaraizu added that “Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity, located at Umudikwere, Ihe/Owere Nsukka in Enugu was not known until DSP Gloria Udoka and her operatives from the Anti Child Trafficking unit of the state criminal and investigation department, stormed the place based on the complaint they received from wife of the Pastor, Veronica Ngwu, bordering on sexual abuse of people in the ministry, which has brought about indiscriminate pregnancy among married and single women in the ministry.

“According to Veronica, her husband used to be a well known catechist in Nsukka Catholic”.

It was further disclosed that while acting under the same alleged will of God, the Pastor got his wife’s niece pregnant.
Some of the members’ wives are now living with him after he impregnated all of them”, the statement added.

Reacting to the allegations against him, the General Overseer stated that he has about five wives with thirteen children, apart from other concubines, who came as a result of the prophetic will of God.

He claimed that he does not do anything with any married woman until full consent and agreement is reached between him and the husband in line with the directives of the holy Spirit.

Two of the women, who had left their husband and are now living with the General Overseer, Calista Omeje, and Assumpta Odo confirmed that they left their husband and went to the General Overseer based on the prophetic injunction to do the will of God.

Calista revealed that she is married to her husband with ten children, and that she was impregnated by Timothy, though the baby later died.

She further disclosed that she also gave her daughter out to the General Overseer to be impregnated in fulfillment of will of God.

Assumpta Odo also confirmed the development, pointing out that she is also married with eight children and that the pastor impregnated her as well as her daughter.

On corruption: Adamawa State House of Assembly serves impeachment notice on Nyako.

In efforts to rid the country of corrupt leaders, the Adamawa State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against the state governor, Murtala Nyako, and his deputy, Bala Ngilari.

According to vanguard news report: the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, has directed the Clerk of the House to serve Governor Nyako and his Deputy notices of their impeachment “for gross misconduct.”

Moving the motion for the impeachment of Nyako, yesterday, the Deputy Speaker and the member representing Numan Constituency, Kwamoti Laori, said the governor had committed acts of gross misconduct in the performance of his duties as the governor of Adamawa State.

Laori enumerated 26 grounds of financial misconduct by the Governor, among which is an alleged fraudulent award of contracts worth over N8 billion through SNECOU Group of Companies Limited, a company allegedly linked to one of his wives.

Alleged ‘crimes’

Other charges against the governor include corrupt syphoning of N300 million public funds through a company, Hydro Source Resources Ltd in the name of constructing Mubi by-pass without mobilising to site or any construction carried out after the money was paid in full.

He was also said to have grossly violated his oath of office by the ‘outrageous’ patronage and dominance of his family and friends in the discharge of government business at the MDG’s office, SPPU and Ministry of Health.

Apart from this, Nyako also reportedly squandered N4,805,216,538.32 and N7,114,995,590.85 in 2012 and 2013, respectively, through the office of the Secretary to the State Government against budgetary approval.

The governor was further accused of gross violation of Section 120 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) through gross misappropria-tion and diversion of Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, for personal use to the detriment of the people of the state, among other charges.

Anti-impeachment protest

Reports of the impeachment move sent thousands of people into the street in protest.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Adamawa House of Assembly why impeachment now?” “The House of Assembly wants to truncate the fragile peace in the state,” “You just passed a vote of confidence on the governor and his administration, why the sudden change now?”

‘They are selfish’

However, reacting to the impeachment move, Mallam Ahmad Sajo, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, said the governor was not aware of the move and therefore it remained in the realm of a wild speculation. He, however, described it as a “selfish move.”

He said: “Members of the House are planning something that will end up making them the sole beneficiaries, where the Speaker will be the acting governor and the Deputy Speaker becomes the deputy governor.’’

In 2008, Nyako was similarly served with an impeachment notice and has been having a running battle with the lawmakers since he left Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for All Progressives Congress, APC.

There had been tension in the state following last week’s order by the House for the arrest of four commissioners for their alleged failure to appear before the lawmakers to answer questions on the state’s finances earlier.

Invitation to commissioners

The Deputy Speaker, Laori, who presided over the House last Thursday, directed the state Commissioner of Police to arrest the commissioners for Agriculture, Lucy Ishaku; Health, Lilian Stephen; Commerce, Ahmed Gorko; and Land and Survey, Abdulrahman Shuaibu who failed to show up and bring them before the house by 10 a.m. on Monday.

The Assembly, which acknowledged receipt of a letter from the Secretary to the State Government, Kobis Thimnu, over his inability to honour the invitation, asked him to also appear unfailingly on Monday.

The commissioner for Finance, Ibrahim Vokna, his counterpart for Works, Umaru Atiku, and the state Accountant General, Nasir Mohammed, had earlier appeared before the house.

The Assembly had, on May 27, given Mr. Nyako and his government a three-day ultimatum to pay back alleged illegal deductions from workers’ salaries and allowances of May 2014.

The development fuelled speculation in the state that the Assembly was bent on impeaching Nyako.

Speaking to newsmen on the development, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Adamu Kamale (PDP Michika), said the governor and his deputy would be served the impeachment notices, adding “whether they reply or not, the House will sit on the matter after two weeks.”

China executes 13 Muslims terrorist

Some Muslim who were caught in the act of terrorism have been executed.
According CNN news report, China executed 13 people Monday who were indicted on terrorism charges related to attacks on public places in Xinjiang province in recent months, according to China's Xinhua news agency.

They were among dozens arrested and publicly tried after a government crackdown on terrorism in the region.

Twenty-nine people were killed and 130 injured when men armed with long knives stormed a train station in Kunming in March. The next month, an attack on a train station in Urumqi, Xinjiang's capital, left three dead, including the attackers, and an attack on an Urumqi market in May killed at least 39.

Dozens stabbed to death in China attack
Xinjiang attacks shifting to civilians

The Higher People's Court of Xinjiang, Uyghur Autonomous Region, found them guilty of organizing, leading and participating in terrorist groups; murder; arson; theft; and the illegal manufacture, storage and transportation of explosives, according to Xinhua.

Some Uyghurs have expressed resentment toward China's Han majority in recent years over what they say is harsh treatment from Chinese security forces and Han people taking the lion's share of economic opportunities in Xinjiang.

Amnesty International said Uyghurs face widespread discrimination, including in employment, housing and educational opportunities, as well as curtailed religious freedom and political marginalization.

Dozens of others tried and convicted received sentences ranging from delayed death penalties to life sentences and other lengthy prison terms, according to Xinhua.

Yu Huitang, a spokesman with the Xinjiang Regional Higher People's Court, said in May that "the sentences are a warning to those who have religious extremist thoughts and intend to incite violence."

Chinese authorities say they apprehended more than 200 terror cells in Xinjiang last year and, according to Xinhua, China's leaders have "vowed to resolutely stop terrorism and severely punish terrorists."

Violence erupted in APC Convention at Abuja, delegate stripped naked

The major opposition party, APC witnessed major violence  yesterday at the secretariat of the Convention Committee, Abuja.
According to vanguard newspaper:  Two APC members were beaten up by some delegates of the party from Abia and Ebonyi states while policemen looked on. One of them who was labeled as “Ngige boy” was stripped naked near the secretariat along Emeka Anyaoku Street, Area 11 Abuja.
Investigations by Vanguard revealed that the fighting erupted between delegates of different factions of the party from Abia and Ebonyi States. Some of the aggrieved delegates from both states who spoke to Vanguard alleged that although they were democratically elected as delegates for the party’s convention, they had been denied accreditation by the Convention Committee headed by Sokoto State Governor Alhaji Aliyu Wammako with Senator Chris Ngige as secretary.

One of the delegates from Abia State who identified himself as Uche Emeka accused Ngige, Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, former National Chairman of All Nigeria Peoples Party, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu and National Vice-Chairman of the party for the South-East, Mr Nyerere as being responsible for their plight.
”We were reliably informed that Ngige and Okorocha have instructed that our Chairman who is Fabian Okonkwo and the rest of us from Abia State should not be accredited.
”We have been calling to inquire and we also have it on good authority that they are directly responsible for this. Our state chairman, has been making calls to find out what is wrong, but no answer has been provided,” he said.
Another delegate from Ebonyi State who identified himself as Christian Ali, told Saturday Vanguard he was the secretary of the party in Ishielu local government.
He said,”There are two factions of APC in Ebonyi. One is led by Chief Ogbonnaya Onu while the other is led by Senator Julius Ucha and because of that, there seems to be a power tussle between the two of them.
”We conducted the state congresses and elected Hon Ben Nwobasi who belongs to Senator Ucha’s camp as chairman. Accreditation tags have not been handed over to us because the trio of Ngige, Ogbonnaya Onu and Okoroacha directed that the congress in Ebonyi be re-conducted.”

How Emeka, aka Baba Victor defiled A 13 Years Old Girl.

One Emeka, aka Baba Victor, narrowly escaped death yesterday morning as he was almost lynched by neighbours for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old primary five pupil (names withheld) in the neighbourhood.

According to vanguard  : Emeka, a resident of Chief Mailumo Sambo Close, Jos, Jarawa village, according to the victim had slept with her severally with the first incident taking place sometime last year after which he gave her N100.
The latest incident occurred at about 6.30 am yesterday when neighbours caught the man in the act. This attracted residents, mostly women, who wanted to lynch him.
One of the neighbours, Mama Blessing, explained that “There has been rumours about Baba Victor sleeping with that girl because she is always playing in his room. No one could confirm it until today.
“I have lived here for more than 20 years. Baba Victor has five children, four in their 20s but the wicked man sent the wife and children to their village in the East and lives here alone.”
The neighbour added that the suspect was “up to something because he has older girl friends, some even come from Bukuru to see him. What does he want with this small girl?”
Though the neighbours claimed the act must have been done more than twice, but the victim said: “This is the second time he is sleeping with me. The first time was sometime last year and he gave me N100.”

How the act started
When asked why she did not report the incident and why she was not in school, she said: “I attend an Islamic school and we don’t go very early. I used to go to his compound to play with my friend who is living there.
“That day, I wanted to shout but he said I should not and that he will give me money. I did not remember to tell my parents. This morning, I went to my friend’s place and he called me and started sleeping with me again before people came and saw us.”
However, immediately the incident was uncovered, the suspect pushed the girl outside and locked himself in.
Before the aggrieved neighbours could break the door, a passer-by had notified the security agencies and it took the combined efforts of Policemen from Nasarawa Gwong Division and STF members attached to Sector Two for the man to be whisked away.
The neighbours equally suspect the victim may not be the only girl in such situation as the suspect was in the habit of giving between N30 and N50 to girl children.
