The Nigerian Army on Tuesday released the 63 suspects arrested on December
15, in connection with the abduction of Prof. Kamene Okonjo, mother of the
Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The 4 Brigade Headquarters of the army, released the suspects who were
arrested at Osanogoo, a community in Ika South Local Government Area of
Delta.
The Public Relations Officer of the brigade, Capt. Rose Managbe, confirmed
the release of the suspects while speaking with newsmen in her office.
She said that the Monarch of Agbor, Dien Benjamin Keagborekuzi, sent three
chiefs, led by Chief Gideon Okobia, to sign surety for the release of the
suspects.
Managbe debunked allegations that the suspects had to pay for their food
while in detention. She also denied that some of the suspects had to pay N70,000
each to secure their bail. (NAN)
