'A Spirit' Has Been Arraigned By EFCC For Stealing N20m

GUSAU — One Mohammed Yusuf Dabo was arraigned yesterday by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,before Justice Zainab Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Gusau, Zamfara State on 11-count  charge of obtaining N20 million under false pretense and forgery.


The accused was alleged  to have defrauded one Ya’u Mohammed by posing as a spirit named ‘Asmau’, based in Niger Republic. He convinced his victim into believing that their is a mystery female voice that has powers to establish schools and mosques to propagate Islam but needed a human vessel through which this could be achieved.

The victim foolishly accept the offer of becoming the human vessel to carry out the assignment the accused was also alleged to have threatened the victim with death if he fails to surrender himself as the human vessel
The accused person whose the medium to extort the victim and used the money to buy exotic cars and built  a mansion in the Red Bricks Area of Kano State.

On arraignment the accused pleaded not guilty, the defence counsel, B.M Muqaddam applied for the bail of the accused person but was denied when prosecution opposed it

The case was adjourned to 12th and 13th June, 2013 for continuation of trial.
