Edo State Government and Security Agents Liaise With Cultist To Tackle Insecurity In Edo State

Strong men otherwise known as cult groups, at weekend end, came together to find a way of tackling the menacing insecurity, especially the  incessant kidnappings and other violent crimes in Edo State. Represented  at the summit were Green Circuit (Maphites), Norsemen (Vikings), Black Axe, Eiye Confraternity, Family Fraternity of Nigeria and Avarian Organisation of Nigeria.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole was represented by the Iyase (traditional Prime Minister) of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe;  the Edo State Commissioner of Police,  AIG Zone 5 Benin,  the Director, Department of State Services (SSS), Civil Defence and Security Corps, Edo State Neighbourhood Watch Council were ably represented
In the  summit which the court group tagged Interactive Peace Summit: Strategy for Social Cohesion, was held at the Sand Beach Resorts, Benin. The threats posed by kidnappers, armed robbery gangs and other criminal activities to  Edo and other neighboring states was the main issue discussed.

Chairman of the Consolidated Forum, Donald Edeo-ghon, while acknowledging the damage done by activities of the group, however expressed hope that the coalition of the groups would help in checking crime in the state.

Chief Igbe expressed joy at what he witnessed and called on the groups not to disappoint, saying
“you know I am going to brief the Oba on what I have witnessed here today.”
However, this open acknowledgement of secrete cults in Edo State may turn a Frankenstein  monster tomorrow. It's only a matter of time.
