Lawyer who Buys snatched vehicles From Robbers in Police net

Oh, so this man is not a
lawyer? You that appeared with me at the High Court
taking pleas and repeatedly asking for adjournment for
your client? God, wonders shall never end! This was the angry reaction of an unnamed police prosecutor who was shocked to the marrows for beholding
his 'learned colleague' in handcuffs for an offence of. impersonation and receiving stolen vehicles. This incident
took place at the dreaded anti-robbery squad, Edo State command.
Investigation showed that the fake barrister had, severally, appeared at a
Benin High Court to defend persons standing trial for car
snatching and armed
robbery. However, it was learnt that he always outwitted Judges by repeatedly asking for
adjournment to enable his client fully brief him.
Unfortunately for the fake barrister, in between time,
another 'client' of his had been arrested for car snatching and armed robbery and during investigation, it was discovered that the same 'Barrister' was the buyer of the stolen cars after his complimentary card was recovered from the
suspected car snatcher.
Police, according to sources, intensified manhunt for him
and he reportedly fled from his Abuja residence. He equally abandoned the criminal case at the high court at the detriment of his 'client'.
But the Police later scooped that the 'property lawyer'
was hiding in far away
Nasarrawa state and
detectives didn't waste in going for him. He was later rounded up in a hotel upon a tip-off.

It was equally discovered
that the fake barrister
normally send car
specifications to the
snatchers making it possible for them to know which to snatch.
When his Abuja home was searched, different
international passports,
pictures of assorted Camry cars, letter. heads of various
chambers and car plate
numbers were recovered.
When cornered by Crime
Alert, the alleged fake
barrister openly confessed that the name on his complimentary card was not his real name. He only volunteered to tell his age and how he got into police net. "Just take the name they are calling me for my name but I know what my real names are.

I am 37 years old and from Orumba-South in Anambra state. I went to Enugu state university where I studied Law till four hundred level. But I was hit by a strange
illness which was later
diagnosed as epilepsy.
The shame of constantly
falling down in the lecture room and being abandoned by my colleagues made me
abandon my law course.
However, the urge to keep body and soul together made me seek appointment in a law firm in Abuja and I
was asked to man the
property section.
If you look at my
complimentary cards on the ground very well, you would have seen that I am designated to man the property/ litigation department of the chamber.

That is what I do; I am
grounded in property
matters. I have never told anybody that I am a barrister because
I know I did not complete my law course neither was I called to the bar. The case I
had at the High court was a criminal one which bordered on stolen cars. The
allegation was that I was the one that acted as a go- between for the sellers and buyers of the stolen vehicles.
There is none that I bought by myself because I hadn't such amount of money. If
the car snatcher is to be
sincere, he should be able to tell you the truth that I only got him a buyer for the car he brought to Abuja for sale.

It is not as if I appeared for a client in the matter like the police man claimed, I was a
witness. Perhaps, the
mistake I did at the court was to announce myself as a member of the profession.
But of course again, I am a lawyer because there is no single aspect of the law that I do not know. The mistake I
made in this matter was
that, when the seller of the Camry car brought it for sale in Abuja, I claimed to be the
one buying it and he sold it to me for N800,000.00 and
it was even with registered number.
Because it was Tokunbo and a snatched one, the price was reduced. At the market, the same car, especially the
Belgium ones could go for N1.7m . To tell you the truth, since I bought the car, nobody has shown up to say it belongs to him or her.
I did not buy two cars from him contrary to what he is saying, it was just one. I can
swear by anything. The
Camry was an ash- colored one. I got to know this man
(car snatcher) when I came to court in Benin here in January. Somebody whom I
met at the court introduced
him to me as one dealing on Tokubo cars and that he normally brings them for sale in Abuja.
That was how we struck a deal and I told him that anytime he comes to Abuja, he should call me. Not up to a month, he called me and said he was looking for one
Nasiru in Abuja which turned out to be somebody I know.
Before then, I had told him that I was not interested in stolen cars because the one I bought earlier landed me in trouble. All I did was to volunteer Mr. Nasiru's telephone number and that
was exactly what I did.
After the bargain, I got my N150,000. Even when the Police came for me , I told them that I would assist them to the best of my knowledge. I knew the car he brought was a stolen one; no need to lie."
But the alleged car snatcher, who had watched patiently
while the fake barrister was narrating his side of the case gestured to this reporter and
said; "Oga, e don happen, e don happen. I want to tell the truth but one thing that I desire is forgiveness.
Lawyer is lying. He knew that I am an armed robber , that I snatch cars for sale.
He has bought two cars from me. The first one was ash- colored Camry 2008 model
and it was bought for the sum of N400,000.00. I got
to know 'lawyer through one guy called Sunny. I told him the car was for N600,000. But he said no, that he could
not pay more than
N400,000. So, I sold that one to him.
The second one was with double exhaust and I wanted to sell it for N700,000. He also pleaded and paid me
N450,000 for that.
So, all those stories he is telling you are all lies. I am an armed robber and I cannot deny that. But the only thing I want, like I said before, is forgiveness; forgiveness from man and God."
In his reaction, Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Etim Bassey, an Assistant Superintendent of police
said, "The self-acclaimed lawyer has been on the run when he discovered that the
man who supplied him
snatched cars was in our net. Because we are aware that he had a pending case at the
high court, our men were always laying ambush for him at the court premises but he would not appear.
We were even about going for a bench warrant so that we could arrest him because as a lawyer, we were playing
safe until information got to us that he was hiding at Nasarrawa state and that he
was not a lawyer after all. Upon his arrest, he also confessed not being a lawyer whereas, when he came to stand surety for his client, he attached his card as a lawyer on the file.
However, at the end of the investigation, only the court can decide his fate."

A Mother Starves a Severely Disable Daughter to Near Death

A 16-year-old girl with cerebral palsy weighed only 23lbs and could not walk or talk when she was removed from her family home after being starved by her mother.
Darlene Armstrong measured just 3’10’’ tall when she was rushed to hospital in Chicago in March.
The severely disabled girl could have been rescued four months earlier if the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) had followed set procedures

asdf
Starved: Darlene Armstrong, pictured here in hospital, weighed only 23lbs and could not walk or talk when she was removed from her family home after being starved by her mother. Law enforcement officials leaked this picture to the media.
asdf
Guilty: Rosetta Harris

Darlene’s mother, Rosetta Harris, 50, pleaded guilty to endangering the life of a child.
The mother, who had no prior criminal record, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to undergo parenting class

Doctors at the Comer Children’s hospital said the girl, now 17, had been starved for a considerable period of time.
When Darlene was brought to hospital she weighed only 23 lbs – just over one and a half stone - the typical weight of a two or three-year-old child.
A shocking photo of Darlene in hospital shortly after she was rescued was leaked to the press by law enforcement officials, as an investigation was launched into how the social services dealt with the case.
Hospital officials did not believe the mother's story that she fed her daughter eggs and grits for breakfast, steamed rice and chicken, chocolate protein drinks and snacks throughout the day.
On November 17 DCFS received an anonymous emergency call that Darlene Armstrong was not being fed and had not seen a doctor in ‘many years’.

Under the agency’s rules an investigator needs to respond to an emergency call within 24 hours, and, if they do not see the child on the first visit, they are expected to return every day until they see them.
An investigation by the Chicago Tribune revealed that an investigator into the case walked away from Darlene's home on three occasions without seeing the 16-year-old.
Although an investigator went to the home within the required 24 hours after receiving the hot-line call she left after Harris’ brother said the mother and daughter were not at home. The social worker left her contact details at the home.
asdf
Crime scene: Rosetta Harris admitted that she didn't know the last time her daughter had been outside or seen a doctor. This is the suburban Chicago street where Harris starved the severely disabled teenager

The same social worker returned on January 3 and when no-one answered the door, she left a note asking Harris to call. The same thing happened on February 27.
It was not until a fourth visit, on March 14, that the social worker got into the home. Harris said her daughter was not there but the investigator heard whimpering.
After Harris carried her skeletal daughter out, the investigator immediately called 911.
'An investigation this badly neglected is a failure of supervision and management,' Kendall Marlowe, a DCFS spokesman told the MailOnline on Monday morning.
‘We are taking appropriate actions to right that ship and ensure this organization places the proper priority on child safety,’ he added.
The Chicago Tribune also revealed that the investigator failed to look up the family’s history with the protection agency, as is required.
In 1996 the DCFS took one-year-old Darlene and her siblings into protective custody after an emergency call was made that the girl was not being fed properly.
Three years later the children were returned into their mother’s care.
Harris admitted to removing Darlene from special education classes in 2000 because she wanted her daughter to stay at home, the Tribune reported.
Harris, an unemployed single mother of five, was unable to say when her daughter last went outside or saw a doctor.
Harris told the Chicago Tribune earlier this year that she ‘was a good mother’ and said her daughter was ‘well cared for.’
Delichia Armstrong, Harris’s 23-year-old daughter, told the paper her mother ‘does the best she can.’
Darlene and her younger sister, 15, have been taken into protective custody.
Darlene is recovering at La Rabida Children’s hospital, where she is reportedly putting on weight and improving.
The DCFS investigator and her supervisors may face disciplinary actions, no formal charges have been made against them.

Woman prison officer, 27, 'exchanged sexy letters and phone calls with SEVEN inmates'

A shamed prison officer who swapped sexy letters and phone calls with inmates could end up behind bars.

A court heard Zanib Khan had 'inappropriate relationships' with three prisoners - thought to include drug dealers - in their late 20s.

The 27-year-old shared intimate calls with male inmates on mobile phones smuggled into Brixton prison in London.

Police also found sexy love letters from prisoners at Khan's home in Ilford, east London.

Misconduct: Brixton prison in south London where Zanib Khan worked as an officer and had 'inappropriate relationships' with inmates

Officers believe she was also close to four other prisoners over three years.

As Khan left Southwark Crown Court, where she admitted misconduct in a public office, she told The Sun: 'I've been stupid. I made a silly mistake and I have quit my job.'

Prison Service spokesman, Paul Halford, said Khan was suspended after being arrested and she subsequently resigned.

He added: 'We take the issue of staff inappropriate behavior extremely seriously.

'The Prison Service seeks to create and support a culture which values integrity above all and rejects corruption and dishonesty wherever it is found.'

Khan hopes to get off with community service but could be jailed when she appears before a judge this week.

Scotland Yard's Prison Anti-corruption Team found no evidence of a sexual relationship between Khan and imates

Vatican Scandal: How Emanuela Orlandi 'was kidnapped for sex parties:

A teenage girl whose disappearance in Rome has remained a mystery for 30 years was kidnapped for sex parties by a gang involving Vatican police and foreign diplomats, the Roman Catholic Church's leading exorcist has claimed.

Father Gabriele Amorth, who was appointed by the late John Paul II as the Vatican's chief exorcist and claims to have performed thousands of exorcisms, said Emanuela Orlandi was later murdered and her body disposed of.

In the latest twist in one of the Holy See's most enduring mysteries, he said the 15-year-old schoolgirl was snatched from the streets of central Rome in the summer of 1983 and forced to take part in sex parties.

"This was a crime with a sexual motive. Parties were organised, with a Vatican gendarme acting as the 'recruiter' of the girls.

"The network involved diplomatic personnel from a foreign embassy to the Holy See. I believe Emanuela ended up a victim of this circle," Father Amorth, the honorary president of the International Association of Exorcists, told La Stampa newspaper.

The debate over who kidnapped Emanuela and what became of her has raged in Italy for three decades.

It has been suggested that she was taken by the leader of a notorious gang of criminals, who wanted to put pressure on Vatican officials to recover money that he had allegedly lent them.

Another theory is that she was abducted to be used as a bargaining chip for the release from prison of Mehmet Ali Agca, the Turkish gunman who tried to kill John Paul II in St Peter's Square in 1981, reportedly on the orders of the KGB.

But Father Amorth, 85, dismissed the "international dimension", saying that a Vatican archivist had also come to the conclusion that Emanuela was abducted for sexual exploitation.

A controversial and outspoken priest, Father Amorth has claimed that yoga is Satanic because it leads to a worship of Hinduism and that the Harry Potter books are dangerous because they encourage children to believe in black magic and wizardry.

Earlier this month investigators opened the tomb of Enrico "Renatino" De Pedis, the gang leader, in order to check long-standing claims that the remains of the teenager were buried alongside him.

They found his remains inside the tomb in the Sant' Apollinare basilica in Rome and also, intriguingly, other bones in a crypt nearby.

Investigators said the unidentified bones probably dated from the early 19th century, but they are being analysed by forensic experts to see if any of them might belong to Emanuela.

In 2005, an anonymous caller to a crime programme on Italian TV claimed that the key to the schoolgirl's kidnap lay in the tomb of the mobster, who was gunned down by rival gangsters in 1990.
