Mr Wali Okey (SAN) elected NBA President
President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Mr. Wali is a vibrant lawyer based in Port Harcourt.
In the election which took place on the 17/7/12 at Abuja, he scored a total vote of 688 to defeat his opponents, Mr. Emeka Ngige, 449 votes while Blessing Ukiri got only 2 votes
Others officers elected were, Emeka Obiegolu Esq, General Secretary, O.J Irabor- 1st Vice President, Francis Ekwere, 3rd Vice President, Joyce Oduah,
Treasurer, Afam Obi, Publicity Secretary, Kelvin Ezelonu, Welfare
Officer, and U. F. O. Nnaemeka, Assistant Secretary.
NBA also used the event yesterday to name the new NBA secretariat in Abuja after it former President, Mr. Rotimi
Akeredolu, (SAN) for his meritorious service to the bar.
Akeredolu is the Action Congress of Nigeria's candidate for the October 20, 2012 Ondo State governorship election.
The naming was done by the outgoing president, Daudu Esq while inaugurating the building on Tuesday.
In appreciation, Akeredolu said, "I am accepting this on behalf of all the members
of the executive that we did it together.
"I feel humble, it is a great honour. I'm overwhelmed. I never
thought of the award."
The event was witnesses by so top wigs of the bar.
