The lbadan masquerader -a Fading Tradition

If the story on the said clash between the Oloolu and some indigenes of lbadan is true, then it means that the era of Dark Age is gone in Oyo State. It is unbelievable and funny, even upon the powers they claimed that it carries, we ought to have seen a lot of dead women since the incident happened. That said event, reminds me of a masquerader that was hit, crushed and killed by a water tanker in my city about 30 years ago. Before the people could come to his rescue, in order to save the life of the man that was under the regalia by tearing it into pieces, he was long gone. Immediately, the news spread like a wild-fire that an ‘indigene of heaven’, as being called by the Yoruba was killed by a truck. So, since the truck killed a masquerader and not a man, then it was a faceless corpse. I think come next year, the lbadan masquerader will be more careful because we are in the 21st Century.
