Olomuo of Omuo-Ekiti, Oba Noah Omonigbehin, has been summoned by Ekiti State Police Command over his alleged role in the killing of 70-year-old Mrs. Rebecca Adewumi for allegedly being a witchcraft.
The police image maker in the state, Mr. Victor Olu, said this in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday.
Babayemi, however, clarified that the monarch was never arrested nor detained by the police, as claimed in certain quarters
Olu said: “He was invited yesterday (Wednesday). He came with some people, we did not arrest him. We had discussions and we are working on the discussions.”
He said autopsy had been conducted at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH, on Adewumi’s death.
“The autopsy has been carried out . It was carried out on Wednesday; the report, which is yet to come out, will inform the next line of action.”
The deceased was allegedly killed in June 2012 by some rampaging youths in the community over allegation that she afflicted her step-son, Ola Adewumi, with a strange disease.
According to her family, the woman was allegedly tortured to death by a group of youths called Omekula, whom they claimed were carrying out the instruction of some top traditional chiefs in the town.
