Alleged kidnappers of Nollywood actress, Nkiru Sylvanus, were yesterday paraded
by the State Security Service, SSS, in Abuja.
The actress, an aide to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, was kidnapped
in Owerri, Imo State, with the gang allegedly led by a police officer dismissed
from the mobile police unit.
She was kidnapped along with two men, Uche Okoli and Kenneth Okoli, at Nworie
Street, Akanchawa roundabout area of the state by three gunmen, and were kept in
the bush around Avu junction for six days.
They were released on December 21, 2012, after payment of N8 million
ransom.
The gang members, six in number, admitted carrying out several other kidnap
operations getting ransom payments of N1.9 million, N3 million and N1.5
respectively.
The paraded men include Ndidi Cletus, also known as Matthew Ofurum; Stanley
Asouna; Aminu Musa; Muhammed Abubakar; Obinna Okolisa and Samson Onwuka.
Leader of the gang, Ndidi Cletus, 30, is a former mobile police constable who
was dismissed in 2007. He confessed to joining the police in 2004 with the name,
Matthew Ofurum.
Other members of the gang include Musa, 40, said to be a cattle trader and
battery charger from Taraba State; Abubakar, 34, a cattle rearer from Nasarawa
State, and Okwolisa, a trader and Keke NAPEP operator.
