Why Court Jailed 8 "Ashawos" In Abuja

Eight women of easy virtue were yesterday sentenced to six months imprisonment each for prostitution.

Handing down the sentence, Mallam Alhassan Kusherki, the president of Zuba Grade 1 Area Court in the FCT said Felicia Dominic, Vivian Agubuzor, Ifeoma Patrick, Comfort Jacob, Gift Obi, Tina Osagie, Mercy John and Joy Ayo, of no fixed address in Zuba, who also pleaded guilty to the charge of soliciting men for the purpose of prostitution, would spend six months each in prison but, with the option of N20,000 fine each.

The offence contravened Section 405 (Paragraph 1(b)) of the Penal Code.
