Shadrach Ofose to spend one in prison for illegal dealing in petroleum products

One Shedrach Ofose who was arraigned by EFCC for illegal dealing in petroleum products has been found guilty and sentenced to one year imprisonment by Justice M.S Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Warri, Delta State.

Justice Abubakar found him guilty of the 2-count charge preferred against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and sentenced him to 6 months jail imprisonment on each count. The sentences are to run concurrently.

The court also ordered that the exhibit vehicles be auctioned and the proceeds remitted into the Federation Account.

The convict was arraigned March 5, 2013. One of the counts that sent Shedrack to jail reads; “that you Shedrack Ofose, on or about the 17th day of November, 2012 at Kaigbodo waterside in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court without appropriate licence did distribute Petroleum Product to wit: 3,950 litres of Automated Gas Oil (AGO) loaded in 10 drums conveyed in a White Ford Bus with Reg. No. (Bayelsa) XB 258 YEN and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) of the Petroleum Act CAP P10 of the Law of the Federation of Nigeria (Revised Edition) and punishable under Section 1(6) of the same act."

Dr. Simon Imuekeme, Former Secretary To Edo State Govt,Remanded For Contract Scam.

The former Secretary to Adams Oshiohmole led Edo State Government, Dr. Simon Imuekeme, has been reminded in prison custody, for contract scam.
His summons to admit bail application is however is to be heard and determined next adjourned date.
Giving the ruling on Monday, Justice Esther Edigin of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin, also ordered to be remanded in prison custody, former officials of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Joseph Emoabino,Davi Igbinoba and Aghator Efe.

Pastor Chibuike Israel Arraigned For Having Unlawful Sex Of A 9 Months Pregnant Woman

Chibuike Israel,a 28 year–old pastor, was arraigned yesterday before an Ejigbo Magistrate's Court in Lagos,for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge and stealing the sum of N250.

The accused, who resides at the Ijegun area of Lagos, is facing three-count charge of sexual assault, stealing and obtaining by false pretences.

A 23 Year-Old Man Remanded For Attempting To Rape A Nursing Mother In Osogbo, Osun State


The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adebayo Lasisi,  of Osogbo Chief Magistrates' Court, on Monday ordered a 23-year-old man  who attempted to rape a nursing mother to  be remanded in Ilesha Prison, pending  the bail application of the accused.

Uchedu Chigbo, 23 Year-old Boy, Jail 7 Months For Having Sex With A 13 Year-old Girl

A 23 year-old man, Uchedu Chigbo has been sentenced to seven months imprisonment by Kubwa Upper Area Court in Abuja on Friday for having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.
When the charge was read, chigbo pleaded guilty to the charge and the Presiding Judge, Alhaji Lawal Munir, convicted him to prison for 7 months with an option of N5000 fine for gross indecency.

On Friday, a Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja sentenced Talal Ahmed Roda to life imprisonment.
Roda was one of the three Lebanese prosecuted by the Federal Government in connection with the armoury discovered in Kano State some months ago.

How Aliyu Tried To Sell His Son To Atiku For N10m

Isah Aliyu, a 30 year-old man has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for attempting to sell his nine years old son for N7m.
Aliyu had contacted one Magaji Atiku for the sale with asking price of N10m which was negotiated to N7m.
When Atiku saw Aliyu was serious about the sale, he contacted the police and Aliyu was arrested.
He was subsequently charged under the Niger state Child's Right Act.
Aliyu pleaded guilty to the charges and alleged poverty as the cause of his action.
The Chief Magistrate, Hassan Mohammed of Magistrate Court in Minna sentenced him to five years imprisonment without option of fine.

Kabiru Mohammed, a 31-year-old man, has been arrested for organizing robbers to Rob his father of a huge sum of $383,000 (N61, 280, 000).
The suspect,confessed that hired notorious robbers Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Godogodo, to steal the money from his father who owns a bureau de change at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Mohammed, who is being detained at the Special Anti- Robbery Squad, Ikeja, said.

Austin Iioka, 28 Year-old Man Remanded In Prison For Stealing Aluminum Coil

Austin Iloka,a 28-year-old man, was yesterday remanded in Kirikiri prisons custody, by a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, pending the legal advice from the Office the Director of Public Prosecution,
DPP, for stealing aluminum coils worth N19.8 million, Miss A.O Akinde, the presiding Magistrate ordered that the defendant be remanded pending the advice

Taiwo Jinadu, Baale Son, Sentenced To 17 Years In Prison For Armed Robbery.


Taiwo Jinadu,22-year-old son of Baale of a community in Bariga has been sentenced to 17 years imprisonment by a Somolu Magistrate's Court
The police prosecutor, ASP Adegoke, the accused robbed one Mutairu Idris of a Nokia phone, valued at N13,000 on Olokodana Street on September 13, 2013,in the Bariga area of Lagos State. Jinadu was also accused of stealing N110,000 and attempting to kill Idris during the operation.
Jinadu was further accused of discharging bullets and damaging the house of one Pa Mutairu Oluwole at 22, Ososa Street, vandalising property worth N55,000 during the robbery operation.
The accused was arrested at a joint in a raid by policemen attached to Bariga Division.

Enesi Jimoh, a former LG Boss, Kogi State, Got 6 For Stealing N7m


Enesi Jimoh who served at one time the Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Kogi State, has been sentenced to six month imprisonment without option of fine for converting the sum N7 million meant for the provision of boreholes to Adavi people to his personal use.
His action bothers on fraud and was prosecuted for it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja,the state capital.

Lance Corporal Liam Culverhouse, A British Soldier, Faces Jail For killing His Own Daughter


Lance Corporal Liam Culverhouse is facing jail after he admitted killing his 19-month-old daughter.
In 2009 as British soldier in Afghanistan, was said to have survived an attack that left five of his comrades dead when a renegade Afghan policeman opened fire at a checkpoint in Helmand Province. Lance Corporal
He managed to escaped with his life by playing dead while the gunman stood over him. However, he lost his right eye in the incident.

A habitual impersonator, Mohammed Umar, alias Terror, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by  Justice Yakubu Gyang Dakwak of Plateau State High Court on Thursday
Mohammed Umar was arrested in October 2008 following intelligence report that he had been posing as an operative of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and “.......he was extorting top government functionaries in Bauchi, Gombe and Sokoto States under the pretext that he had damning petitions against them
