THE SOLILOQUY OF AN HONEST MAN

Close to my house, an earth road dove-tailed into a path leading to a bar where the boys normally gather. When those on the other side of the city come to this bar to drink, perhaps get acquainted with one of us, he goes about to say ‘I am a friend of them’.

They Now Live In the Shadows

Some years ago, when I was a kid and, under the watchful eyes of my parents and neighbors, I learnt so much about life and morals. What I was taught then still guide me  today.

I Am Not A Poor Man

Poverty, as much as it’s a test of hardship, it’s largely your state of mind. Most successful people see it is a road map, a key to success/ prosperity for a wise and a diligent man. It has been argued that fortune only abides with him that employs, in his poor heart, the instrument of wisdom and diligence in his work so that in prudence, he becomes successful/ prosperous.

Why Would You Want To Call A Child This Name?

What is in a name? Name, in some part of the world is very symbolic:; In my area, your name, most times, defines your origin or tribe, it also tells of the situation or circumstances that surrounded you birth. While in other part of the world may just be an appellation  one needs to answer to for attention.

Today's Poem : Timeless

Who can analyze this poem?

Timeless

The sun will not cease to rise
Upon this rolling ball
Men fold and straighten
trying to hold or loose
Silver in the carbon night
Flame upon the sea
Rise
Prince of old
Gardener of hell
Time has no season in the clouds.

At Least, We Still Have Honest Men In Nigeria

The World has not completely gone banana. At least, in Nigeria, we still have honest people. I am not talking about politicians, but the very ordinary man on the street who is struggling to meet daily needs.

I met a young man yesterday, a taxi driver, who actually beats my imagination. He was looking really disturbed because somebody left a bag containing money in his cab. Dollars at that matter.

Achebe under fire over attack on Awo, Gowon

Literary giant Prof. Chinua Achebe has stirred the hornets’ nest, with his claim that war-time Head of State General Yakubu Gowon and the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo formulated policies that promoted genocide against the Igbo.
In his newly released civil war memoirs, There was a country, Achebe said: “Almost 30 years before Rwanda, before Darfur, more than 2 million people-mothers, children, babies, civilians-lost their lives as a result of the blatantly callous and unnecessary policies enacted by the leaders of the federal government of Nigeria.”

Why I am Not Boko Haram.

My father died when I was just 5 years old, leaving my mum to cater for 4 children all by herself. She raised us in the farm where sand flies and mosquitoes ravaged our skin every morning on the dew- wet- grass- path. We could barely feed, but at every opportunity to learn, food is worth sacrificing. In the evening, by the fire, we would surround a glowing ember and listen to cannons from a corn.

The Deal with Boko Haram

Our President, Goodluck Jonathan recently decided to treat Boko Haram issue by offering them stick and carrot treatment. Would you subscribe to the 'stick and carrot' treatment of Boko Haram by Mr. President even as Boko Haram is bent on eliminating the Christians? Your opinion/comment is important to move the nation forward

Lipsticks and Floods

I have seen women wear makeup, little did I know the process it takes to make them look beautiful. Recently, I decided to be an observing and caring man as I watched a friend makeup for a wedding ceremony.
