How Two Toddlers Were kidnapped from the same compound

The kidnapping of two toddlers - Toheeb Adedokun and Falilu Tajudeen - has thrown Taike Street, Ketu Lagos into confusion.

The two boys have some things in common. They are three-years-old and live in the same compound at number 18.

Female College provost and bursar jailed for fraud in Ibadan

Justice Mashood Abass of the Oyo State High Court yesterday sentenced the Provost and Bursar of the Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele Ibadan, Mrs Ruth Adehwe Aweto and Mr. Adekanye Komolafe to four years imprisonment without an option of fine. The judge found the two accused persons guilty of four-count charge out of eight- count charge of corrupt practices leveled against them by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and therefore, sentenced them to one year imprisonment on each of the counts.

Journalist Describes Wife Killer, Akolade Arowolo A Responsible

A 37-year-old journalist, Efe Omordia, on Tuesday testified as defence witness in the ongoing trial of Akolade Arowolo who allegedly killed his banker wife, Titilayo.
Omordia, who claimed to have worked with Leadership andNational Mirror newspapers as an investigative journalist, said Akolade is a “responsible” man, adding that he is role model to many inmates.
The journalist, who said she rose to the position of Chief Correspondent before she left National Mirror newspapers, told the court that she met Akolade sometimes in March 2012 at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos.
Omordia, who now works with Joy Bringers International, a non-governmental organisation with interest in rehabilitating prisons’ inmates, said Akolade was one of her students at a character training school of the NGO.

France returns smuggled Nigerian artefacts



Nigeria five ancient terracotta sculptures smuggled out of the country in 2010 to France by French Citizens has been returned back.

The artefacts, of Nok origin, were found in the luggage of French citizen at a Paris airport.
Their exact value has not been disclosed, but they are believed to date back more than 3,000 years.
Nigeria's tourism minister told the BBC it was a "big achievement" in the country's campaign to recover its lost treasures from around the world.

"I feel extremely delighted," said Edem Duke, who attended the ceremony to receive the sculptures from French embassy officials in the capital, Abuja.
Over the last 85 years, Nok art has been discovered in a large area of north-central Nigeria from Jos to Kaduna.

Experts say Nok art, which often represents human heads, is the earliest attempt at portraiture yet discovered in Nigeria.

Nigeria's National Commission for Museums and Monuments believes that items of Nok culture show it was the first society to have used iron in sub-Saharan Africa.




SSS Parades Nkiru Sylvanus Alleged Suspects

Alleged kidnappers of Nollywood actress, Nkiru Sylvanus, were yesterday paraded by the State Security Service, SSS, in Abuja.
The actress, an aide to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, was kidnapped in Owerri, Imo State, with the gang allegedly led by a police officer dismissed from the mobile police unit.
