Don't Fly Me Abroad For Treatment'...Governor Wada
Contrary to insinuations, Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State may not be flown abroad for the treatment of the injuries he sustained in the accident involving his convoy on Friday.
Doctors at the hospital where the governor was receiving treatment hinted, yesterday, that Wada rejected the option of flying him abroad for further treatment after undergoing what was described as inter-locking nail surgery on his thigh broken in the crash.
The wrecked car after the accident. |
Spokesman for the governor, Mr Jacob Edi, echoed the doctors position when he said his principal was stable.
“I saw His Excellency after the unfortunate accident. He has been stabilised since last night (Friday). I spoke with him and he shook my hands. It was after he stabilised that he was flown to Abuja,”Edi told Sunday Vanguard.
The governor was said to have suffered a broken thigh among other injuries when his vehicle ran into a ditch after a burst tyre on Friday afternoon at Emi Woro village, about 12 kilometers to Lokoja, the state capital.
His ADC died while his driver reportedly escaped unhurt.

Young Man Commits suicide in Protest Against Unemployment
A young unemployed teenager has killed himself in Sidi Bouzid, the marginalised
town in central Tunisia where the country’s revolution erupted two years ago,
witnesses said on Tuesday.
Wissem Hani, 17, died on Sunday from a massive electric shock after clinging
to an electric pylon in protest at his bleak circumstances, the witnesses told
an AFP journalist.
The number of people committing suicide or attempting to take their own lives
has multiplied since a young Tunisian street vendor set himself on fire on
December 17, 2010, in a drastic act of protest against police harassment.
Mohamed Bouazizi’s death ignited a mass uprising that toppled ex-dictator
Zine El Abidine Ben Ali the following month and touched off the Arab Spring.
Limited economic prospects, especially in the neglected interior, were key
factors behind Tunisia’s revolution. Two years on, nearly a quarter of the
population lives in poverty, with unemployment at around 18 percent.
Last week in Sidi Bouzid, protesters angry at the government’s failure to
improve living standards hurled rocks at President Moncef Marzouki after a
speech he gave to mark the anniversary of the uprising.

Weird: Nigerian student In Ghana cuts off his manhood and swallows it
A Nigerian student enrolled in one of the numerous tertiary institutions in
Ghana has cut and swallowed his penis. The incident occurred last Friday.
Although no one is sure what prompted the 25-year-old student (name withheld) to
chop-off and practically ingest his manhood, Daily Sun gathered that he is
currently on admission at one of Ghana’s teaching hospitals.
In Ghana, the average tuition fee per academic session for a non-Ghanaian
student hovers around $6,000 (over N900,000). If his parents could pay his fees
for studying in Ghana, it was doubtful hunger was not the boy’s reason.

Unconfirmed Report Says One Little Girl Survived Sandy Hook Shooting For Playing Dead
Only one child made it out alive of a first-grade classroom at Sandy Hook Elementary School last week — by fooling the gunman into thinking she was dead, the family's pastor says.
The little girl, who is 6½ years old but hasn't otherwise been identified, "ran out of the school building covered in blood from head to toe, and the first words she said to her mom when she got outside was, 'Mommy, I'm OK, but all of my friends are dead,'" the Rev. Jim Solomon, pastor of New Hope Community Church in Newtown, Conn., told ABC News in a report that aired Sunday.

A Father of Three Died Dancing ‘Gangnam Style’
46-year-old man collapsed with chest pains and died while dancing a la ‘Gangnam Style’ at his office’s holiday party last weekend in Blackburn, according to The Independent.
The sudden death of Eamonn Kilbride, father of three, has “prompted a warning to middle aged men not to attempt the vigorous dance from the hit video,” said the newspaper.
Proffesor Bernard Keavney, a consultant cardiologist at Newcastle University advised middle aged men against getting too wild while dancing at holiday events.
“The chance that you’ll come to grief is very small. But as with any form of untypical exercise … be somewhat measured. Let the lady dance around you,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
Kilbride had been at the holiday party with his wife, Julie, who called him “the life of the party.”
